Packet stuffing is great and easy but you can pimp it up to make something really special.
Ingredients:
- 1 packet of shop bought stuffing from Wyatts Butchers
- 2 onions chopped
- 100 gms mushrooms roughly chopped
- 1 packet of whole chestnuts roughly chopped
- 200 gms fresh sausages removed from their skins and chopped
Method:
- Make the shop bought stuffing as per the packet instructions and set aside in a bowl.
- Sauté the onions and mushrooms in a little butter and olive oil until soft and the onions are translucent.
- Mix all the ingredients well into the packet stuffing
- Butter an oven dish big enough to take the mix and deep enough for the stuffing to be about three inches (75mm) thick.
- Cover with foil and bake at 160°c for 40 minutes.
- Remove the foil and turn the temperate up to 180°c for a final 15 minutes.
- Serve with the turkey.
- Top tip – you can add all manner of other ingredients depending upon your taste, such as:
- Chopped chicken livers
- Grated apple
- Chopped dried apricots
- Chopped dried prunes
Or a big dollop of cranberry sauce! Yummmmm!
