Packet stuffing is great and easy but you can pimp it up to make something really special.

  • 1 packet of shop bought stuffing from Wyatts Butchers
  • 2 onions chopped
  • 100 gms mushrooms roughly chopped
  • 1 packet of whole chestnuts roughly chopped
  • 200 gms fresh sausages removed from their skins and chopped

  • Make the shop bought stuffing as per the packet instructions and set aside in a bowl.
  • Sauté the onions and mushrooms in a little butter and olive oil until soft and the onions are translucent.
  • Mix all the ingredients well into the packet stuffing
  • Butter an oven dish big enough to take the mix and deep enough for the stuffing to be about three inches (75mm) thick.
  • Cover with foil and bake at 160°c for 40 minutes.
  • Remove the foil and turn the temperate up to 180°c for a final 15 minutes.
  • Serve with the turkey.
  • Top tip – you can add all manner of other ingredients depending upon your taste, such as:
  • Chopped chicken livers
  • Grated apple
  • Chopped dried apricots
  • Chopped dried prunes

Or a big dollop of cranberry sauce! Yummmmm!
